Spring Flush Scheduled on N. Platte River

The Bureau of Reclamation has scheduled the Spring Flush on the North Platte River below Gray Reef Reservoir. Starting on March 17th the flows will be ramped up from 500 cfs to 4000 cfs from 1am to 4am and eventually back down to 500 cfs by 10am. This process will be repeated each morning through March 21st.

This sudden increase of river flow is done to remove the fine sediment on gravel beds which will help the rainbow trout reproduce. To many anglers this flushing signifies the start of the really consistent fishing action on the 'Reef'. If you would like more details visit the BuRec Newsroom page: BuRec Newsroom
